Being the top Chinese player in Indian smartphone market, Xiaomi has completed a milestone to sell 2 million smartphones in a quarter. The company claimed that it has managed to sell such amount of smartphones in the country during Q3 2016. Also, it noted a that Xiaomi has achieved over 150 percent year-on-year growth from Q3 2015 to Q3 2016.
Xiaomi India revealed via its twitter handle that their Mi fans are greatest and the company has thanked them for being with the manufacturer during the journey to success. The tweet also includes an image revealing more than 2 million smartphone sales and 150+% of YoY growth from Q3 2015 to Q3 2016.
With the impressive figures, Xiaomi claimed that it has sold 1 million smartphone units in India within 18 days of October. These stats was also mentioned in an open letter by CEO Lie Jun to his employees.
IDC recently reported that in CY Q3 2016, the smartphone shipment in India reached 32.3 million units, registering YoY growth of 11% and QoQ growth of 17.5%. The shipment has crossed the 30 million mark for the first time. The report also confirmed that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the Redmi 3S series “fuelled the online shipments” to a large extent for the company. Based on shipments, the company has made it for the first time to the top five smartphone sellers. As compared to the same period last year, Xiaomi has grown over 2.5 times.
Xiaomi, soon after its Diwali sale and Flipkart’s Big Billion Day’s sale, announced that it has sold half of a million of smartphone units within three days. And during the period, the Redmi 3S along with Redmi 3S Prime was the top-selling item Flipkart, while Redmi Note 3 was the best-selling smartphone of Amazon India.
Apart from this, Flipkart has recently reported that it has sold more than one million Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime handsets in the country, which was launched in India in August this year via Mi.com and Flipkart
