Bad News! BCCI is planning to step down from Champions Trophy! BCCI is planning to step down from the Champions Trophy, it would be a very bad news for Indian cricket fans.
New Delhi, JNN There is bad news for cricket fans. In the coming days, Team India can be excluded from ODIs, the second largest tournament of cricket – ICC Champions Trophy matches. If that happens then it will be very bad news for Indian cricket lovers.
The Champions Trophy starts on June 1. In this, India had to play the first match on 4 June with Pakistan. India and Pakistan have not been able to see the cricket series for a long time and cricket fans were awaiting this match. India has won the Champions Trophy twice in 2002 (joint winner) and 2013. At present, Team India and many other players from other countries are also playing in the IPL. IPL is ending on May 21 and the Champions Trophy will start 10 days later.
The reason behind the withdrawal of India’s Champions Trophy is the ongoing debate over cricket’s ‘Big Three’ formula between the BCCI and the ICC. There is no solution to the dialogue between the officials of the two boards and if India decides to withdraw from this trophy, then this will cause great loss to world cricket. At present, the officials of the two boards have a month’s time to resolve this matter.
According to Sportskera, the BCCI officials have said that if the ICC does not return to ‘Big Three’ then it has the right to withdraw from the Champions Trophy under the Members Compliance Agreement (MPA). Under the ‘Big Three’ formula India, Australia and England get a large share of the ICC revenue.
To resolve this issue, the ICC requested Shashank Manohar to stay on the ICC President’s post for a little more time. A few months ago Shashank Manohar resigned from the ICC. There have been several rounds of meetings to resolve this dispute between the BCCI and the ICC.
