Google dedicates its doodle to legendary kannada actor Rajkumar on his 88th birthay

Google doddle team has honoured Dr. Rajkumar on his 88th birthday. Born on April 24, 1929 as as Singanalluru Puttaswamayya Muthuraju, he was fondly called, Appaji, Nata Saarvabhouma, Bangarada Manushya, Vara Nata, Annavaru and Rajanna.

Dr. Rajkumar had received many awards for his work including two National Awards and one for best playback for the song “Naadamaya”. Among other many accolades, the late actor was awarded with the Padma Bhushan in 1983 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1995.

Dr Rajkumar passed away on April 12, 2006 at the age of 77. Dr Rajkumar a three time national award winner has worked in some of the greatest movies of all times. He was also a great singer who has recorded over 400 songs.

Google’s Doodle team says that there were two drafts of the sketch before they finalised on this one.

First draft has Rajkumar singing a song Aadisidaatha Besara Moodi and holding the white bird from Kasturi Nivasa movie.

The second draft shows the iconic characters of Rajkumar played over a half century of his acting career.

After much deliberation, this Doodle was finalised upon.
