Vidya Balan’s most awaited film ‘Begum Jaan’ hitted worldwide 900-1000 screens on Friday, April 14th. The film released grandly across India and received mixed reviews from film critics and audience. The film is expected to collect a decent amount at the domestic box office on the first day.
The story revolves around the journey of Chakravarthy, who accidentally becomes a don, and his love marriage with a girl who is unaware of his rebel traits, will be explored in the film which sees the actor in three different shades. Chakravarthy which is directed by debutant Chinthan is an unusual showcase of the underworld, balanced with family emotions, underlined with the relationship between a husband and a wife.
Begum Jaan is a period drama, written and directed by National Film Award-winning director Srijit Mukherji and it is a remake of his Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’. The film is produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment. The film is co-produced by Sakshi Bhatt and Shree Venkatesh Films with executive producer Kumkum Saigal.

Begum Jaan has collected Rs 3-4 Crores on its first day. Srijit Mukherji directorial film has opened to around 15-20% occupancy, which is quite low considering holiday for Good Friday and Ambedkar Jayanti.The film started on a decent note on its opening day.
